Approach
Our therapist’s approach includes working from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective, partnering with individuals and families who are facing challenges related to:
Services
Individual Therapy
I work with children aged 9+, teens, adults, and seniors. Individual therapy is a judgment-free space, to be heard, validated, and have an opportunity to build awareness about yourself and the challenges you may be facing. It is a place to practice new skills and learn different ways of approaching things that align with your values.
Family Therapy
Family sessions can occur with 2 or more members of a family. It is a space to examine relationships and what may be impacting them. Family therapy can explore boundaries, communication styles, parenting, address separation/blended family dynamics and help family members to manage expectations of one another.
Couples Counselling
All sessions are offered either in-person at the Angus office, or virtually for clients anywhere in Ontario.
A blended format of in-office and virtual is also available upon request.
Fees
Each session is $160.
Payment is kindly requested at the time of the session.
Cash, E-transfer and major credit cards are accepted
Please note: a credit card is required to be on file and will only be charged if requested as the form of payment during the session or in the case where the cancellation/no show policy applies.
A receipt will always be issued for payment.
FAQ’s
What can I expect during my first session?
During your first appointment, we will review the consent to service and confidentiality agreement together and I will address any questions or concerns you may have throughout the process. We will discuss risks and benefits to therapy and the limits to confidentiality. The remainder of the session will be used to get to know you and what you hope to achieve through therapy. The first session is an opportunity to complete an initial assessment, a process where we gather information about you and your family, your reason for seeking support, the history of the challenges you are facing and the impact it is having on your life. This information will help to collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan that feels right for you.
What can I expect during my subsequent appointments?
The duration and frequency of sessions is unique to each client and depends on several different factors. It’s common for sessions to occur more often at the start of therapy, and overtime may become less frequent as you get closer to reaching your goals. Subsequent appointments generally focus on your identified areas of need, and at times, other topics may come up that require more immediate attention. Regular check-ins occur to prioritize your concerns and reflect on your progress throughout therapy. Feedback is always welcomed during our time together.
How long is each session?
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, our policy requires 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice is provided, your card on file will be charged the full session fee. Late cancellations impact other clients from taking advantage of the newly opened appointment time. Exceptional and unforeseen circumstances may be considered.
Are your services covered by extended health care plans?
What do I need for virtual sessions?
For virtual sessions, New Leaf Psychotherapy uses a platform called Jane. The Jane platform operates on all computers (Mac, PC’s and Microsoft devices), tablets, and cell phones (Android and Apple). If joining from a computer, please ensure you are using Google Chrome as your web browser. To protect your confidentiality, clients are asked to join virtual sessions in a quiet, private space where they cannot be overheard by others. You will be asked to confirm your location at the start of each virtual session.
Prior to each session you will receive an email with a personalized link to join your virtual session. Clients are asked to join the virtual appointment 5 minutes before the scheduled session time to ensure their microphone and camera are connected properly.
